I used to be so scared to show up on my social media... • • I used to be really scared to post differently than everyone else on my stories. I used to be scared to post unconventionally on my feed too. I didn’t want people to think it was weird or strange. I didn’t want my friends to make fun of me for what I was doing. But what I realized is that all that doesn’t matter. I LOVE putting together content to share with the people who need it. I LOVE helping people build an online business. I LOVE helping people build an online brand. I didn’t realize it before, but this - all that I do now, is what I want to do. I want to do it bigger. And I came to the realization that not everyone will understand that. And that’s ok. But I’m not going to let the fear of what other people think decide whether or not I’m going to pursue what makes me happy. Aspirations > Fears. What’s holding you back from pursuing yours?

That long weekend was much needed! Lots of family time and we really enjoyed going on a couple small adventures 🤍 Plus the weather ended up cooperating and felt like summer ☀️ . One of my must haves for summer is a beach towel or blanket. When @tesalate reached out, it was an instant yes! #gifted They have the best beach towels/blankets that are sand repellent 🙌🏻, absorbent, fast drying and come in the coolest designs. Did I mention, Sand Repellent?!? These are also perfect for picnics and workouts! #tesalate #sandfreetowel #sandfreebeachmat #picinic #yogamats #beachtowel #summermusthave #summertime #summermusthaves #beachmusthave #discoverunder5k #outfitinspirations #igfashionblogger #influencerblogger #midweststyled #midwestblogger #midwestbloggers #kcinfluencer #midwestinfluencer #kcblogger

Missing the hustle and bustle of downtown streets... the world seems so still now! And also very much missing this outfit✨ Though I love the warmth of sunny summer days, I definitely miss layering light sweaters under my fave spring dresses. Raise your hand with me if you have a love/hate relationship with the summer heat 🙋🏼‍♀️ It’s a constant battle in my mind trying to decide which I love the most, swimsuits or sweaters 🤍

I have a collection of too many face washes, but my current go-to has been the @chemist.confessions blank slate cleanser which is seriously all I need in a cleanser. This baby is truly no nonsense which is why I love it so much much! It is a cleanser made up of surfactants. Surfactants are the backbone of cleansers, allowing dirt to be picked up by the surfactant and then rinsed off easily (this is just a crude explanation lol). The surfactants in this cleanser are meant to be mild and I have found that they really are. Other noteable lack of ingredients is any fragrance, actives, scrubby beads, or anything that seems super “fun” or gimmicky. Now to my experience. I have dry skin and struggle with cleansers irritating me so when I saw a formula created by @chemist.confessions I knew I wanted to check it out. I was really impressed with the small (and science driven) ingredient list. It has a moderately runny gel texture and when you start washing, it doesn’t really foam up. It creates a bit of a lather but tbh at first I thought I wasn’t using enough product. Turns out, one pump was enough and I just wasn’t used to a non foaming cleanser 😅 I used it morning and night and my skin felt just as hydrated as it did before cleansing. It didn’t add moisture or take any either. It worked well for me alone in the AM and as a second cleanse in the PM too so I’m glad it covered all boxes there. Also when I say fragrance free, I mean it. This smells like NOTHING. I got some in my mouth once and it tasted a little soapy but that’s really it 😂 Did it clean my face well? Heck yeah! Did it offer other frills? Nope! And sometimes you just need your cleanser to, you know, cleanse and nothing else. Honestly I feel like everyone needs this, or something as basic as this. I’m realizing that my cleanser just needs to remove my makeup, and sweat, and grime and not offer a life-changing solution. Plus I bet this would be a good cleanser to use when my skin gets irritated as it’s so minimal (okay by irritated I mean when I end up sun burnt in the summer because I forget to reapply my spf like a bad skinstagrammer).

heyy guys! i hope you guys had a good long weekend i’m back @ work today but i’m seeing a lot of ppl heading back to the gym.. so jelly!! 😩😩 so i thought it would be helpful to post a few tips on going back to the gym post quarantine! - • 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐋𝐎𝐖 — i think we all lost some sort of progress during these 2-3 months your not gonna be back throwing around 50 lbs on day one & that’s ok!! • 𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 — eating enough food to power you your workouts is a major key * @djkhaled voice * • 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 — (this is something i struggle w) stress throws off your groove in general, it hinders proper recovery, slows down your gains, & if your trying to slim down like myself it can even prevent weight loss so keeping your stress in check is essential • 𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩, 𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩, 𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩 — sleep is key to having the energy you need for a good workout 7/8 hours! the role of sleep is to restore the body’s energy supply so a bad night’s sleep can make exercise feel harder & we don’t need that they’re already hard enough 😭😭 • 𝐡𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 — proper pre/post-workout hydration is crucial, especially if you want to recover properly and maintain endurance! drinking water also aids in digestion, weight loss, keeps you hydrated, helps reduce toxins & a bunch of other things so drink ya water!! • 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 — if you aren’t recovering properly then your efforts in the gym mean nothing!! listen to your body if you need a rest day(s) take them!! how you eat (& don’t eat), the amount of sleep your getting, & just how you treat your body in general all play a role in effectively your muscle tissue repairs! get your protein in it provides the building blocks you need to repair your muscles, eat the carbs they’re the energy you need, sleep well, some other things you can do is proper stretching before & after, bcaa’s, ice baths, foam rolling etc. - so i hope this was helpful! if your heading back to the gym this week be safe! wash your hands, clean your equipment before/after & keep your distance from other gym goers if you can! 💪🏾💪🏾

EDS Awareness Month - Since I'm behind this will do for Pain/Symptom relief and Movement that helps me in one go. Day 25 & 26. . For me keeping moving has always been the biggest help with my EDS whether it was short dog walks when I first got sick to physio to RNOH rehab to my amazing classes at @able2bnorwich when I was at uni, @a_woman_called_karen 's Instagram live stretch sessions to working with my wonderful personal trainer @carol_ann_pt I always see improvement. . The day after going back after a long time away I will be in a ridiculous amount of pain but when I'm in a routine I do notice my joints being much more stable and my general pain and tolerance for exercise improves. . But then life gets in the way, or work does or POTS does and you decondition much faster than you can recondition. Movement with EDS is all about pacing (as are most things) and finding the right balance for your life and what you need. . #EDS #ehlersdanlos #edsawareness #ehlersdanlossyndrome #edsawarenessmonth #ehlersdanlosawareness #chronicillness #chronicallyill #chronicpain #chronicfatigue #hsd #myedschallenge #myhsdchallenge #fitness #health #excercise #ootd #discoverunder5k #disabledandcute #disabledandhot

Disclaimer: this is not a budget friendly item. Lockdown crazy made me do it and do I regret it? No? All the team at Charlotte Tilbury had to do was mention the word lip in the title and I was sold. I’ll say it again, pout perfecting goop (not to be confused with the Gwyneth Paltrow lifestyle brand) are my vice. Costing a less than cute £28 (£3.50 per 1ml), I was expecting A LOT from Charlotte’s Magic Lip Oil Crystal Elixir. The squeeze tube has a rollerball applicator which proves to be a practical way of distributing an even amount of oil to the lip area. The formula doesn’t feel like a typical lip oil and dries very quickly to a matt balm texture which is great if you’re not in to a glossy high shine look. Previously when I’ve tried lip products with plumping effects, the sensation can be quite tingly which over time tends to dry out the lips and makes reapplication an all too frequent occurrence. I’ve been particularly impressed with this formula as the plumping sensations do eventually subside (this isn’t real magic huns) but the feeling of hydration and softness endure for a whole while longer- very rare in this overcrowded lip product market! The matt finish proves to be a strong ally too as it primes the lips perfectly to apply lipsticks, glosses and any additional balms of your choosing. Members of the ever growing enhanced natural beauty tribe will be more than happy to use this on its own however, with two applications a day being pretty substantial. In honesty, I’m a little irritated as I was really hoping to be underwhelmed but the results are wonderful so I’ve been forced to admit to myself that I will definitely repurchase this when the time comes. Despite being sold out and not available until later on in the year at the Charlotte Tilbury following a successful launch, sites including Cult Beauty and Space NK still have stock available.

This post is going to be slightly irritating as you won’t be able to purchase these products until after we come out of lockdown as they are part of a range available exclusively to Primark stores. As many of us are experiencing financial pressures that will continue post lockdown I think it’s important to talk about high street products that are effective but offer excellent value for money which is why I’m a fan of beauty editor Alex Steinherr’s range. There’s an extensive array of skin care, addressing issues ranging from pollution, moisture, pore balancing and glow. The brand has proved to be very successful and previously sold out items have been restocked. In a move that dispels the myth that cheaper formulas are over ridden with synthetic scent to compensate for cheaper ingredients, the entire range is fragrance free and vegan friendly. My sister’s fiancé who has sensitive, dry skin is a huge fan of Maximum Moisture: Moisture-Locking Everyday Moisturiser (£5/7ml) and is on his third bottle. The formula is a little too thick for my oily skin which is why I have found joy in the Plump & Glow serum-in-cream Moisturiser (£5/50ml), a super lightweight texture, whilst still remaining hydrating and providing a dewy, healthy look to the visage. This item doesn’t contain an SPF which hasn’t been a problem as we continue to keep outdoor trips to a minimum during lockdown. I don’t really subscribe to the need for eye products as I apply most of my serums around the orbital bone but the Sleep Spa- Every Night Eye Mask (£4/16ml) from Steinherr’s range has been a great soothing accompaniment to my tired, contact lens wearing eyes. Great to use as part of a pm routine as suggested but equally as useful to awaken and depuff in the morning.

A BHA like Salicylic Acid is always a welcome addition to my skincare routine. As I’ve bored you with far too many times, I have oily skin with very large pores which can get blocked after applying layers of products (especially certain SPF formulas) so use this after a cleanse to give my skin a deeper clean. I prefer using acids to physical exfoliants like scrubs as despite the myth I think they are more gentle to the skin. I’ve included two affordable examples of salicylic acid formulas for today’s post. The first is Skin perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant by Paula’s Choice which you can order directly from their website. The 30ml size is currently available for £8 with free p+p. An excellent way to test the formula for yourself. Boots Ingredients Salicylic acid Serum (30ml/£7) is super lightweight and great introduction into integrating a BHA in to your skincare routine. You can use this both morning (with the addition of SPF) and night but I prefer to use this on the nights I don’t use a retinol. Whether you have oily skin or not, acid exfoliants are a really great way to detach old skin cells from the skin which will help all the other actives and ingredients you use to permeate the skin more effectively. If you are a little apprehensive at using acids, have a look at my previous post on lactic acid which is generally considered a more gentle exfoliant suitable for most skin types.

Lactic Acid (part of the AHA family) is a strong ally to my skin care regimen, helping improve my skin texture and providing the boughier serums in my collection an opportunity to have a greater effect on my skin by sloughing away dead skin cells. It’s also an ingredient I have recommended to friends who are moving away from physical exfoliants and need an introduction to using acids that provide the same function. I’ve tried a few formulations but Garden of Wisdom’s Lactic 5% Acid Serum which is available at Victoria Health (£9 for 30ml) has become a firm favourite. The scent lends itself to feeling like you’ve applied apple cider vinegar to your face but I tend to use this as part of a pm routine and the scent does dissipate after a while. Whilst a BHA like Salicylic Acid (a smaller molecule that cleans out pores more effectively) tends to work better for my oily, visibly pored skin, lactic acid is a gentler alternative if like me you’ve over done the retinol and need to be kinder to your skin.

When selecting UVA/UVB protection to maintain my vampiric complexion I either want the formula to be super lightweight so it doesn’t interfere with other skincare products or a moisturiser/sun cream hybrid. Caudalie’s SPF50 Anti-Wrinkle Face Suncare (£19.50/50ml) falls in to the latter category and provides impressive results. Available at retailers Space NK and Cult Beauty, the formula is non sticky and leaves the skin feeling soft and plump and effectively locks in serums and acids. There is definitely a lingering spf scent (you know of what I speak) but it’s not enough to dissuade me due to the protection it offers and non oily, hydrating, glycerin based benefits. I specifically ordered this spf as I was on a quest to purchase an spf that wasn’t harmful to the ocean and marine life which in this case is successful due to the absence of oxybenzone and octinoxate. The cream claims to be suitable for sensitive skin and is water resistant.

Not all Skincare Heroes are Retinol based. Bold statement imminent... I can honestly say that the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% by Deciem’s industry changing brand The Ordinary formula has had the most profound effect on my skin. Although not apparent over night, months of application as part of my am and pm routines conquered the the breakouts which were my nemesis thought my twenties (a distant memory) and prevalent blemishes which made me look like I’d had a bad reaction to something. Whilst not obliterating the crater like pores I possess (an impossible demand of any product or treatment), the formula has definitely contributed to lessening the appearance of them. Over the years I’ve tried alternative, more expensive niacinamide formulas but none have been as effective or potent as The Ordinary’s product which comes in a 30ml size for £5.00 or a 60ml supersize for £8.90. I always apply after cleansing before adding any further serums that have a higher viscosity (typically your HA would go underneath). A few drops using the pipette is more than enough for the entire face (granted I have a pea head) offering even greater value for money. I can be fickle with certain brands, feeling a constant curiosity to try new products but I always have to include this product in my routine as I’ve noticed the difference in my skin on the rare occasions I have gone without. That being said, if any of you have tried Paula’s Choice Niacinamide Booster, or have any other products that use similar actives, please share below.

Up until a couple of years ago face mists were much derided, causing confusion amongst skincare enthusiasts as to what they actually do. Not as potent as a serum or as effective as a setting spray. Do they replace a toner? The marketing department’s dream that I am however, will always run towards buying any product deemed “buzz worthy,” which in this rare case turned out be worthwhile. I now gravitate towards mild panic staring at the measly few remaining mills at the bottom of the bottle spray in the hope that my Cult Beauty order arrives in time. So why the change? A quick fix spray (not to be confused with an essence, that’s for another post ) are my saviour when heading out somewhere straight from work (remember those days…?), giving my skin a boost of hydration, stopping that clogged feeling and tightness I experience after running around all day. Sprays occupy the final step in my morning skincare routine to give my Hyaluronic serum something to latch on to and draw moisture from. I don’t mean to shock you but heaven forbid I should have a lazy day when I DON’T entertain a morning skincare regimen (more midday), I will reach straight for a mist to temporarily rid myself of a bad case of bed face. The above multi purpose heroes are also a super effective way to keep makeup looking fresh and I’ll share my thoughts on each on future posts.

As we aim to buy essentials only during isolation, we have a great opportunity to fully utilise all the products that we have given up on, the serums we tried for a week and left in the drawer or the cleanser we never opened. Apart from obvious quick fixes, most products require a commitment of at least 4-6 weeks (months for actives like niacinamide), for us to see visible and continued results. With constant product launches and new brands emerging weekly, we can become wasteful in our pursuit of the next “it” product. So whether you’ve had a day or screaming children, or are missing any semblance of structure to your day, take the time to use what you already have and take care of your skin by going back to basics and committing to a routine.

So I’m obsessed, OBSESSED with lip products. I live in constant fear of waking up with prune like lips and try to keep the adjective crusty out of my vocabulary (not even to describe bread). In the past I’ve tried lip products from brands ranging Eve Lom to Nivea in the hunt of the perfect balm. The quest continues. I was recently devastated to find out @thebodyshop have discontinued the brilliant Solid Oil Lips with wild argon oil (£4.50) so I’ve included this in the misguided vein of starting a campaign to bring this back 🙏. Thankfully @glossier have created absolute gifts in both their Balm Dot Com (£10) and Generation G (£14) ranges offering concentrated formulas that offer great value for money as you need minimal amounts of product per use and dialled down pigments which offer a more subtle look. I’ve repurchased the balms in berry, rose and original and can’t imagine a day not scrambling for these in my work bag. My default expression is pout so @collectionlove new You Do You collection have released a range of high shine Lip Oils (£3.99) which contains my ingredient favourite argon oil has become my new best friend. Curiosity led me to try Bare With Me Lip Conditioner (£6.00) by @nyxcosmetics as more and more brands infuse their products with hemp. I can’t really comment on what the hemp is supposedly doing but for an oil I find this product surprisingly long lasting that provides a more natural shine. Lip products really are an obsession so expect to see many, many more rambling posts. Also if any of you have any coveted lip products you think I’d like, please leave suggestions below 💜.

Even though everything going on has been very tough and disastrous on many, I do feel a sense of community. It’s nice to see everyone coming together during this pandemic ❤️ anyways here’s another photo of the fringe fit 😅

Which photo do you like best: 1, 2, or 3? Comment below 💕📸 A big part of my style is mixing fitted clothing with oversized pieces. I love the contrast in tailoring and it’s also super comfortable-chic. Bonus tip: Include texture in your outfit to add some flare to your look. This fringe was perfect! 🤤
