Morning practice ✨ I have found that having a morning practice is key to my happiness. Part of my practice is that I drink @drinkmudwtr on most days - coffee at times but I try to stay away from it - and this is how I prepare it. Add the MudWtr, a bit of raw honey, hot water, and nut creamer! So delicious. If you like chai you’ll love it! . My morning practice does vary but usually consists of working out, mantras, meditation, and making a yummy drink. Taking time for myself is very important especially during this pandemic. Reflecting on mental health awareness week we began thinking about the long term benefits of this year’s theme of Kindness. With kindness comes mindfulness and it is accompanied by awareness. Awareness of our surroundings, our feelings, and keeping in tune with our body sensations. We begin to develop a better understanding of ourselves and others, by taking things in at that moment. By allowing ourselves time and remaining calm and composed we allow mental wellbeing. We should be encouraged to carry out this practice on a weekly basis. During these difficult and confusing times for a lot of us, meditation can be a method for us to find peace and stillness around us. It allows us to understand our bodies better and helps acknowledge the choices of others around us while remaining calm. Studies have shown that meditation and mindfulness have positive effects on our mental health. With the long-term results allowing for a decrease in symptoms of depression and anxiety. This leads us again into the area of kindness. Being kind to ourselves by taking care of our physical and mental wellbeing, but also being kind to others. During these difficult times being kind to one another means a lot and can bring around a bigger change. Reflecting on mental health awareness week we began thinking about the long term benefits of this year’s theme of Kindness. With kindness comes mindfulness and it is accompanied by awareness. Awareness of our surroundings, our feelings, and keeping in tune with our body sensations. We begin to develop a better understanding of ourselves and others, by taking things in at that moment. This week feels weird, right?! Maybe it's the post-holiday blues. It felt like we were kicking off the summer (and something special) during Memorial Day weekend, and now that we're back to the "normal" pandemic week, it feels like a let down. We are refocusing today with an eye on gratitude. One of our #nurseambassadors, Meaghan Mcguire, says the recent pandemic..."has helped to remind me to really engage with my surroundings and appreciate life. The most rewarding part of this pandemic has been the quality time I have been able to spend with my family. We are eating dinner together, engaging in discussions that would otherwise not take place, reconnecting, and making memories that will last a lifetime!"
